One thing our senior team has learned over the years is that visibility and planning are the key to success. We developed our own on-line project management tool where our customers can interact with our team on a daily basis. We map out the project in a project plan form, first at a high level, and then at increasing levels of detail with detailed information attached to each task. This helps us to interactively determine the required budget and to flush out all the information with customers participating in our internal information sharing. At this point you can watch our progress towards milestones.
Customers can see the progress of task and sub-task execution spanning the globe in real time.
Also certain customer provided materials are critical to the process of moving our project forward and our tools illustrate the dependancies perfectly.
Our style is to make sure that all work packages are set up as 2 week or less milestones. This is just long enough to give us the flexibility to deal with the realities of the countries we work in, but short enough to ensure nothing is ever out of hand. So for our customers that means that we are proving our value at every step of the way. No failed projects.
